Vincenzo Rusciano, after travelled in 64 countries, worked in 7 and studied in 3 I got back to my land, Napoli. I have had a startup, I am working on another one, I have an MBA at UPF, I have been speaker at TEDx, volunteer in a refugee camp and diving instructor. How did you start with social media marketing? What motivated you?

The possibility of segmenting the customers. I have used Adwords a lot in the past but it doesn’t allow you to find your customers in such a specific way. SM take you where your customers are.

And have you encountered any obstacles in your entrepreneurship experience?

I could easily talk about experience, providers relationships, cash flow, market position, time to market, team management, pricing, business management, investment, time, etc… Should we make another interview to talk about all details? haha

What are your favorite tools in a daily basis?

I used hootsuite in the past but now I am quite satisfied by using the tools inside facebook

Let’s talk more now with one of my favorite subject 🙂

How do you grow your community around your brand/startup?

I try to think about a few targets of people who could be interested in what I am doing, I make a promoted post to reach them and I try to measure which targets responds “better” where better are not necessarily “likes”. I dive into the comments and then I reach my conclusions. Whenever you are not sure about what to do, a/b/etc testing is always the answer.

What do you think about social media nowadays?

They are more important than they have ever been, Social networks are the place of internet where users spend the most of the time on line and the place from where they reach other sites. If you want to be visible u gotta be there and SMM are the ones who know how to do that .

Which post you created that you are most proud of?

Two years ago I volunteered in a refugee camp in Greece and one day there was a manifestations of Kurds. This manifestation was done after that Isis killed 50 people in Syria,

this people were just tired of war and death, they just wanted to get the documents that would have allowed them to live in Europe. I wrote a post with a video and that allowed their message to be spread on facebook. It reached thousands of views and I had the feeling that that digital marketing make so much more sense when it’s used for things which are not business related.

How do you deal with your relationship between brand/ influencer?

I have tried in the past to use platforms such as buzzoole, that get you in touch with your influencers but I still prefer to get directly in touch with the influencer.

Do you proactively look for partnerships or just take occasions when they present to you?

Life is too short to wait. If I need them, I look for them.

What is for you the perfect way to approach an influencer?

You should try to know the influencer before you get in touch, I mean what’s important for him? what does he get if he works with you? why are you different from all the others who simply want to USE him? make it clear to him that he can get something valuable from the collaboration with you and things will run smoothly afterwards.

To know you even better, could you tell me what is your best achievement so far? – the site to write messages which are sent after that you die. I had a massive media coverage (just google heavenote) and happy users. I sold it.

What values do you stand for?

Be good, have no regrets and take the best every time that you can.

Vincenzo Rusciano

What’s next for you?

A shared wardrobe for children’s clothing, it’s coming very soon to Spain as well. If somebody is interested just drop me a line 🙂

Well thanks for this great time 🙂
