Entrepreneur Interview with Teo Health Promoter

In my Startup Founder series I feature interviews with entrepreneurs with kickass profiles from all over the world. I hope they will inspire you as much as they inspire me! Today, we meet Teo Scognamiglio  “Founder of Teo Health Promoter”

Hey Teo, I already know you very well, but for the others, who are you and what do you do?

My name is Teo Scognamiglio, I am Health promoter, nutritionist and medical biotechnologist. I am Sicilian and I define myself as a curious person with a critical spirit, this has allowed me to have a broad and holistic vision about health. I am a lover of beauty in all its forms and knowledge. I like to help people to improve their quality of life, the wellbeing can be accepted as a form of beauty and gives a positivity that fills you with energy. Well, it’s a  passion that has been transformed into work.

I help people each day to improve their lifestyle and the results are impressive, in my studies I always realise more about the fact that we , our bodies, are the environment of our cells and to function well we have to manage the paramarers of our body through the style of life and food.

Each person has a different type of stress. What I do is a check-up of the various types of cell stress, such as: Biological, Chemical, Physical and by managing these factors, the body begins to take its most healthy and ideal form.

I am working between Italy and Spain (especially from a distance); personal health-life coaching, giving conferences and workshops for companies, entrepreneurs, educational centers and personalized follow-ups to improve the fertility of couples, manage stress and anxiety from a biological point of view, to be more productive, beautiful and healthy.

In specific for entrepreneurs, the first instrument of work is our body, we often forget this, taking care of our body and our mind of the various stresses is fundamental to be productive and competitive, the management of the intestinal flora has a very important role in the management of mental stress. In a healthy company, productivity, competitiveness, participation, work climate and motivation will be improved and there will be a decrease in accidents, occupational diseases, absenteeism and stress.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes health education as a strategy of recognized utility in health promotion, health literacy and disease prevention, a learning process that informs, motivates and helps people, and this aims to adapt human behavior and lifestyles to maintain and improve their health.

According to data published by the ENWHP (European Workplace Health Promotion), for every euro invested in health programs in companies, you get a return between 2.50 and 4.80 euro in absenteeism and between 2.30 and 5.90 euro of costs for illness

How did you start? What motivated you?

During my thesis I was working in the Imperial College London lab with differentiated stem cells in heart cells (for cardiac regeneration) but I felt very closed in the laboratory,

I wanted to help others in a different way and connect directly with the people.

During my studies I focused on the subject of the intestinal flora, according to relevant scientific studies and my experience in the field, it is essential to manage it to take care of the health of the person.

The intestinal flora which is made up of bacteria, fungi, yeast and viruses, lives in our intestine, is an organ without form in our body and it has fundamental functions for our life.

It has effects on the immune system, on the assimilation of the nutrients which serve to build our body, on the psyche (our stress levels of panic attack and anxiety).

In order to take care of our health we have to take care of the intestinal flora and our body through the correct management of food and the style of life.

I realized that working as a nutritionist focused my help in a sectoral manner, over time I achieved great results working in a multidisciplinary and holistic way, plus I realized that in the health field there was a missing figure that could teach the new scientific knowledge to people explained in a simple way to motivate them to improve their quality of life.

The human aspect is fundamental in my work.

And have you encountered any obstacles in your entrepreneurship experience?

It is normal to have them, the important thing is that they have a resilient effect on your project, to improve and develop you always more.

Do you encourage anyone with to go with entrepreneurship?

I think that, dedicating yourself to something that you are passionate about allows you to have quality of life and low levels of stress and if you love your job you will not have to work any single day of your life.

Any advice for people who want to create their own business?

Surely follow your passion and understand if there is a lack between demand and supply, study the market and create a business plan without absolutely forgetting the human factor, I think this makes the difference.

What are your favorite tools in a daily basis?

Every day I have to catch up with new scientific knowledge through pubmed and scientific journals and social networks are very important to connect with people.

Let’s talk more now with one of my favorite subject 🙂

How do you grow your community around your brand/startup?

Through my Website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn.

What do you think about social media nowadays?

Which are fundamental to connect, especially for professionals who work remotely.

To know you even better, could you tell me what is your best achievement so far?

Each person I help is a satisfaction, when someone thanks you for how you improved the life and solved the problems you feel a positive energy that gives you more desire to continue.

What’s next for you and your company?

Expanding the number of people, I can help and create a training school so that the other health professionals can learn and apply my method.

Well thanks for this great time 🙂
