Entrepreneur Interview with the Villas Hunter “Stanislas Helou”

In my Influencers & entrepreneur series I feature interviews with Social Media Pro with kickass profiles from all over the world. I hope they will inspire you as much as they inspire me! Today, we meet Stanislas Helou.

 

Hi Stanislas, nice to meet you! To start, who are you and what do you do?

My name is Stanislas Helou and I am the Market Manager for Luxury Retreats, a luxury villa rental company that also provides personalized concierge bookings to its guests. To explain my title: I hunt for new villas in the Spanish market to add onto our portfolio.

 

What do you think about social media nowadays?

You can’t live without it whether you want it or not. As a business you need to make sure to have a well managed one and as a person it’s a door to the world to promote your brand, your business or simply yourself.

How did you start with social media marketing? What motivated you?

I always believed that whoever you are, you’re your own brand.

Whether you are the CEO of a large company or a Barista in a your neighborhood, you represent yourself to the world.

Look what happened with SaltBae, the Turkish steak chef.

He is his own brand since over a year now.

Whether you go viral or not, whether you have million of followers or 200, you are the image you give/want to give to the world.

I know that people look me up on LinkedIn as I can see their profile but I do not know who looks me up on Instagram for example.

My account is clean, professional, fun and relates to what I love: my work, traveling, fun photography and more…

I will not post a drone video on LinkedIn for example, as I will not post a job offer on Instagram.

As long as you know what belongs on what Social Media, know what ‘Personal Brand’ you are or want to aspire to, you’ve done a good job.

 

What are your favorite tools in a daily basis?

My iPhone is my #1 tool for everything and anything. If I travel, I will always have a portable charger with me with enough ‘juice’ in it to be able to charge it 6 times if needed.

 

How do you grow your community around you/your brand?

By being me. Stanislas Helou. That simple.

 

Which post you created that you are most proud of?

On LinkedIn: I created a job offer back in October 2015 searching for freelancers in Europe for Luxury Retreats and decided to put a nice picture of one of our villas and write a short but concise text explaining the position. It worked perfectly.

On Instagram: It’s a picture from mid July when I went to Crete with my girlfriend and decided to take a drone picture of a sunset sitting on top of the car I rented. It went viral and was re-gramed by Forbes Life Magazine.

 

How do you deal with your relationship between brand/ influencer?

Positive relationships: I sometimes get contacted by villa owners, villa agencies, concierge company or other businesses wanting to collaborate so that’s great on the business side of things.

Negative relationships: Lots of fake accounts or fake comments as well as ‘Influencers’ pushing for a free villa stay.

Same as everything else in life, it’s all about time.

There’s 24 hours in a day.

So I try not to lose too much time on the negative side of it and try to maximize my time on it whether it’s for fun or potential business opportunity.

 

Do you proactively look for partnerships or just take occasions when they present to you?

Both.

I sometimes comment or send a private message to someone posting a picture in a villa even if it’s not in Spain as it could be a potential property that could fit our portfolio.

I also do this for leisure when I find a new restaurant that looks interesting or an event…

 

What is for you the perfect way to approach an influencer? 

Message him/her something short first to catch their attention.

 

As an influencer : What would be the perfect way and would interest you to work with a brand?

For me, as long as it fits my personal brand.

I wouldn’t do anything for a night club for example as it’s not ‘Me’.

But a restaurant or any other business that fits what is ‘Me’, why not?

 

What is your best achievement so far?

Getting to where I am and who I am now thanks to hard work, determination and vision.
